Since 1978, Rodney & Cindy Schmidt have operated Schmidt Farms as a family farming operation. In 2000, they established Schmidt Ag Services, Inc. in Eastern Iowa, to offer quality chemical products for local producers at affordable prices through name brand and generic products.

In 2005, along with their children, Michael and Michelle, the business has expanded to include a seed dealership. They are also licensed to sell dry and liquid fertilizers as well as federal crop and hail insurance.
